There was a pull out couch that was not real comfortable, but we did not need it as we had 4 of us fit easily into the two full size beds. The paint was recent, the room amenities new and the beds comfortable. Much older and they would probably get bored, I would guess 10-11 is about the max age for a whole day here. The water park is great for kids this age. We had a few beers at the bar and played a little with the kids too. They floated in the lazy river, did the tube slides, climbed in the water structure and had a great time. They tried the surf machine, but were really too small to do it, but they loved trying and getting knocked over by the water. We had a smooth check in and our room was ready despite checking in at 10:30 am. We took our family (mom, dad, son age 6 and daughter age 8) to the Great Escape Lodge for a 3 day break to celebrate New Year's. Still, with young kids this might be a fun place. ![]() The temperature in the room was intolerably high (even when we cranked it down to 67 degrees) but when you stepped out into the hallway, you froze. The room was nice, spacious with 2 queen beds, but we had a bit of an issue with the heat. things we could've done much closer to home, without the high $$$ room cost. Very little is open in the Lake George area in the winter (even the McDonald's closes down!), so outside of the hotel, we just wound up outlet shopping and going to a movie. The biggest disappointment was that the water park water was SO cold that the kids really didn't want to go in a second time - and frankly, that water park is the only thing that makes the resort worth the price. The New Year's Eve bash was fun, though our kids didn't have anyone to dance with (not many other teens) so they just hung together the whole evening. Lots of cheesy 'entertainment', with dressed up characters in bear suits, etc. It was a very family-friendly atmosphere, but unfortunately, most of the families had kids in the toddler to 2nd grade age-range. We just spent 3 nights (with relatives) around New Years at the Great Escape Lodge - thinking the water park would be the big attraction for our 3 teens and 1 pre-teen. Now onto the hotel! WOW! It is HUGE!!! The rooms are very nice and clean and comfortable! The water park was alot of fun for everyone! The kids really enjoyed it!! They even have a little arcade that was fun for the kids too!! Overall, we loved it there and would recommend to it to everyone! More Show less He was very kind and understood completely!! Not only that, we did not have to pay anything extra for the change of dates!! We were so happy that they were compassionate about their guests and fixed everything up for us. Boy, were we wrong! We spoke to a manager during the week and he did not have a problem changing our reservations for another date. We were worried that we lost the money and the experience. They said it should not be a problem, but to call back during the week to talk to a manager. We called the hotel and explained our situation. ![]() Unfortunately, there was a bad storm that did not let us go more than 5 miles from the house. A 3 hour drive from Montreal that we booked in early February. We got a deal on groupon for this hotel and had to book it with no refunds and no cancelations (or change to the dates) We thought we were safe going at the end of March.
